Drainage and weeding
Before the seedlings are unearthed, they should be watered during drought; after the seedlings are unearthed, do not water too much, so as not to affect the growth due to low ground temperature. Water in spring and autumn when it is dry to keep the soil moist to facilitate growth. During the rainy season, pay attention to cleaning and dredging the drainage ditches to prevent water accumulation and root rot. Intertillage and weeding are carried out once in April and June each year to keep the soil loose and free of weeds.

When the seedlings are about 3 cm in height, hoe once, and thin out the weak seedlings that are too dense. When the seedling height is about 6 cm, the seedlings are fixed, and the weeding is combined with cultivating at the same time.

top dressing
Topdressing should be combined with cultivating and irrigating. The first time is about 1500kg of human and animal manure per acre after the seedlings are planted in April; the second time is about 2000kg of human and animal manure per mu during the flowering and fruiting period in June; the third time is in autumn and winter. After seedling, mix about 2000kg of soil and miscellaneous fertilizers with superphosphate 50 per acre, and then spread on the ground, and combine with the soil to help them survive the winter safely.

When the seedlings are about 15 cm high, insert a frame bar next to the plant to wrap the vine stems, and tie the tops of the adjacent frame bars together every 3-4 to make it stronger and easier to manage.

From May to June, all flower buds should be removed except for seed-reserving plants to reduce nutrient consumption and promote root growth.

Plant shade crops
Before and after the "Qingming Festival", high-stalk crops such as corn and sorghum were planted on the ridge, which not only provided shade for the seedlings, but also improved land utilization.
