Planting MethodSow seeds after the last frost in spring; optimal soil temperature is 20–26°C. The seed coat is thick, soak seeds in warm water for 12–24 hours before sowing to speed up germination. Sow seeds 1–2cm deep, 30–40cm plant spacing. Build trellis support for vines to climb. Pinch the main vine when it reaches 50cm to encourage side shoots and fruiting. Hand pollination helps improve fruit setting. Harvest fruits when rind turns hard and fully mature, before frost arrives. Seedlings emerge within 7–15 days. It takes roughly 100–120 days from sowing to harvest mature gourds.

Suitable ClimateCrane Head Gourd loves warm, sunny climates. Best growing temperature: 18–32°C. It is sensitive to frost and cold weather. It needs full sun. It grows well in fertile, well-drained loam soil. Cold wet soil will cause seed rot.
