Description
Acacia from Taiwan (scientific name: Acacia confusa Merr.) is a plant of the genus Acacia in the leguminous family. Evergreen tree, 6-15 meters high, glabrous; branches gray or brown, without thorns, slender branchlets. The first true leaf in the seedling stage is a pinnate compound leaf, and the leaflet degenerates when it grows up, and the petiole becomes a petiole, which is leathery. The heads are spherical, solitary or 2-3 clusters in leaf axils. The pods are flat, slightly constricted between the seeds, blunt and convex at the top, and wedge-shaped at the base; 2-8 seeds, oval, compressed, 5-7 mm long. Flowering period from March to October; fruiting period from August to December.
Distributed in the Philippines, Indonesia, Fiji and China; distributed in Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan in China; wild or cultivated. It grows in tropical and subtropical areas, and has low requirements on soil conditions, and is extremely resistant to drought and barrenness. It can grow in acidic coarse soil and sandy soil with severe soil erosion.
